On Friday 5 May, the Castle of Hornos will host the presentation of the Ardilla Awards, the prizes awarded each year by the Regulatory Council of the Sierra de Segura Designation of Origin to recognise the best oils of the 2022/2023 campaign.

The Ardilla Awards for the 2022/2023 campaign were presented at a tasting competition held last January at the Iberian Museum in Jaén. The ceremony was judged by a panel of seven prestigious professionals from the olive oil sector. The oils chosen as the best extra virgin olive oils of the season were Chorro de Oro (SCA Virgen del Campo, Torres de Albanchez), Tierras de Tavara (Oleofer SL, La Puerta de Segura) and Agrosegura (SCA Agrosegura, La Puerta de Segura).

The Control Board will also present the Squirrel Ambassador Award to the Fundación del Olivar, in recognition of the work it carries out every year for the olive sector. The Ardilla Maestro de Almazara Award will go to Eduardo García Fernández, master miller of the SCA San Isidro de Benatae.

You can find all the information about the event on the DO Sierra de Segura website.
